JERUSALEM, GadgetInfo - Israel, Friday, warns travelers to leave their iPad at home or it will be confiscated by the time they arrive in the country since its signal was 40 times more powerful than allowed.
Communications Ministry spokesman, Yechiel Shavi said some equipment that has been confiscated by officials at Ben Gurion airport, Israel, will be returned to the owner when they departed from Israel.
In the case of Israelis that their Apple equipment was confiscated, "they can sell the equipment to the American people," said Shavi.
iPad is a gadget with a touch screen system that so far only sold in the United States, where its federal regulations allow Wi-Fi signals much higher than the standard in Europe - which was followed in Israel.
When one version of equipment adapted to European standards was launched into the market, the equipment will be welcomed in Israel, said Israel's Communications Ministry.
But the responsibility is on people to make sure the Wi-Fi equipment that they will bring into the country meets local standards.
"Around the globe, thousands of computer models created and therefore a user who bought one tool abroad should check that the appliance is suitable for use in Israel,".
